Guide to the Clans

The ThunderClan

are a group of cats that live in the part of the forest that is deciduous woodland. They are the main Clan in the Original Series. They are named that because of the nearby Thunderpath. Their main prey items are mice, voles, squirrels, rabbits, and birds such as starlings, magpies, wood pigeons, and thrushes. In peace, they are respectful of other Clans. In battle, they are fierce, courageous, and loyal. ThunderClan cats speak out for what is right, and are not afraid to challenge The Warrior Code. They stalk their prey in the forest.

RiverClan

is one of the four Clans that live in the Forest and consider StarClan to be their warrior ancestors. They live on a reedy, pebbly plain near a river with few trees. They are known for their skill at fishing and love for water. They also love beautiful things, and are known to collect rocks, shells, and feathers to decorate their dens. They eat mainly fish, but they also eat water voles, shrews, and mice. They are contented, sleek, well fed cats, with long groomed fur. They are known to be clever and graceful.

ShadowClan

is a Clan living in the marshy territory. Their main prey is snakes, lizards, and frogs. ShadowClan hunts better at night than the other Clans. It was often said when the Clans were in the forest, that the cold wind of the Thunderpath blew the cruelty onto the ShadowClan warriors' hearts. Currently, ShadowClan resides in a pine forest with very damp, marshy ground.

WindClan

is known for their love of open spaces. They live on open fields (also known as moorland) where they catch their main prey of hares and rabbits. Of all four Clans they are the least used to wet ground, preferring the grassy ground of the moors, which they sleep on. They are excellent hunters of the swiftest of prey species in addition to having a reputation as quick witted amongst the other Clans. The pelts of WindClan favor shades of gray and brown, perhaps as a natural outgrowth of the camouflage those colors provide.


BloodClan is a dangerous group of cats made up of feral-living felines from Twolegplace. They are highly trained fighters, whose harsh lifestyle contributes to their strength and fortitude.

Organization

BloodClan is not an official Clan, but more of a loosely organized group of alley cats who live together in Twolegplace for mutual protection. They mostly feed on Twoleg trash and live prey is scarce. Their leader is Scourge, a small black cat with one white paw, and an eerie, high-pitched voice that sounds like the splintering of ice. They don't have an "official" deputy, but the cat closest to Scourge is a muscular black and white tom with green eyes, named Bone. He does most of Scourge's dirty work, and keeps the other cats of BloodClan in line by force. They do not have a medicine cat, and the elders are never cared for; if a cat can't hunt for itself, they die.

Cats are required to live on their own and living in family groups is forbidden, given Scourge's concern that some cats will join together against him. Mothers train their kits, teaching them how to hunt, fight, and generally everything basic, and at the age of twelve moons, kits leave their mothers,

Cat Characteristics

They do not have a belief in StarClan or the warrior code. Because of this, the leader does not have the nine lives granted to Clan leaders. Many cats of BloodClan impale their collars with teeth of cats and even dogs, wearing them like trophies and making them appear more intimidating. Some BloodClan cats who are high in rank in Scourge's guard have their claws reinforced with dogs' teeth.
