Snowpaw padded through the forest as the sun rose. His eyes still felt droopy and he wasn't entirely awake. He always tried to leave before the first patrol so that he could get what he wanted before the warriors started tramping through the forest.

Cracklestar padded through her home with a vole in her mouth. She caught sight of another moveomt out of the corner of her eye. She almost sprang for the cat but with another blink of her eyes it was only snowpaw. She looked down at the vole then at the apprentice and padded after him. Catching up to him she mewed, "Snowpaw, hungry?" She set the vole down on the ground and mewed, "Its still warm, just caught it."
